TOWN OF HEDGESVILLE WELCOMES YOU

The Town of Hedgesville is located at the site of a natural limestone spring which had been an Indian meeting place before the European settlers came into the region in the early 1700’s. The spring was a determining factor leading to the settlement of the area. The Town grew out of a trading village known as Skinners Gap in North Mountain. A charter in 1870 gave the Town Council control of the area and adjacent land. The water temperature of the spring is a constant 57 degrees and has never been affected by drought. Legend has it that whoever drinks from the spring will always return.
